Impairment Based Approach in Management of Chronic Low Back Pain
This course provides participants with focused hands-on demonstration and practice of selected examination and Orthopedic Manual therapy techniques and exercises for the Lumbar spine and Hips. Introducing principles of comprehensive assessment of lumbar spine and hips and development of treatment approach including Manual Therapy, Therapeutic Exercises and Neuro-dynamics.
Upon completing this course, you’ll be able to:
- Determine a diagnosis and use sound clinical reasoning and pain science to guide patient/client management.
- Confidently describe the Lumbar spine /hip and SIJ anatomy and correctly palpate the important structures in this region.
- Describe the osteokinematics and arthrokinematics of the lumbar Spine and hips as it relates to specific pathologies.
- Conduct a comprehensive physical examination of the lumbar Spine and hips region with high diagnostic accuracy and identifying a comparable sign.
- Correctly and confidently identify the clinical pattern for lumbar Spine and hips most common pathology.
- Understand and apply a treatment-based classification system to improve clinical decision making skills and develop an evidence-based treatment plan for lumbar spine.
- Achieve competency with skilled, evidence-based manual therapy techniques of the lumbar Spine and hips which will include soft tissue mobilization, exercise program and non-thrust mobilization.
- Justify the selection of manual therapy techniques, pain science education or integrated exercise using clinical reasoning and application of current best evidence.
